The Basilica of St. Josaphat in Milwaukee, WI is a Catholic minor basilica known for its Polish Renaissance Revival architecture, dedicated 1901 and elevated to basilica status in 1929 by Pope Pius XI. In 1929, recognizing this remarkable achievement, Pope Pius XI elevated St. Josaphat’s to the status of minor basilica—making it the first Polish-American basilica and only the third minor basilica in the United States at the time.
