The Basilica of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Norfolk, VA is a Catholic minor basilica known for its Gothic Revival architecture, dedicated September 26, and elevated to basilica status on December 8, 1991, by Pope John Paul II. In 1858 the new church was completed and dedicated to Mary of the Immaculate Conception, making it one of the first churches in the world to bear the title after Pope Pius IX’s dogmatic proclamation.
