The Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis King of France in New Orleans, LA is a Catholic minor basilica known for its Spanish Colonial and Victorian architecture, dedicated 1851 and elevated to basilica status in 1964 by Pope Paul VI. The Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis King of France is America’s oldest Catholic cathedral in continual use, which caught the attention of the Holy See: The church was elevated to the rank of minor basilica in 1964 and later welcomed Pope John Paul II during his 1987 trip to Louisiana.
