The Basilica of St. John the Evangelist in Stamford, CT is a Catholic minor basilica known for its Gothic Revival architecture, dedicated May 30, 1886 and elevated to basilica status on July 16, 2009, by Pope Benedict XVI. In 1842, three families gathered in a private home for the first Mass in Stamford.
