The Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey, OH is a Catholic minor basilica known for its Gothic Revival architecture, dedicated June 25, 1925 and elevated to basilica status on October 21, 1971, by Pope Paul VI. As pilgrimages to the shrine increased, the Conventual Franciscan friars were invited by the bishop in 1912 to care for the shrine and the growing number of pilgrims seeking spiritual guidance.
