The Basilica of St. Mary of the Assumption in Marietta, OH is a Catholic minor basilica known for its Spanish Colonial Revival architecture, dedicated December 12, 1909 and elevated to basilica status on June 13, 2013, by Pope Francis. In 1749 a Jesuit missionary celebrated Mass at the convergence of the Muskingum and Ohio Rivers for a French expedition and local Native Americans.
